Pastor John Steger Personal Bio:
Born and raised Jewish in the suburbs of Chicago, and from a broken home, I quickly took to the streets for my satisfaction and affirmation. The “father wound,” which controls the hearts and emotions of most men and women, is mighty and runs deep into our soul. As a young man, I wanted to be appreciated, and I wanted to be accepted, but that didn’t happen, at least from the person I desired to be accepted from, my father. So as I stated, I took to the streets and found my security and peace in the things of the world.
At the age of 19, I began to make great money, which lasted the entire 34 years of my automotive career. I spent this time striving for success and “the love of money” rooted itself in my being. But there is a problem with this type of thinking, as the Word of God states: “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.” 1 Timothy 6:10 That statement came true in my life, as I was ruled by its power!
Fast forward to January 2003, when I dedicated my life to following Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. God drew me into Him and radically changed my heart forever. God’s grace, love, mercy and compassion, restored my broken heart, and transformed my broken thinking.
As my relationship grew with God, I experienced trials and tribulations, but I adhered to Gods Word, which states: “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds . . .” James 1:2 The joy of the Lord ran so deep, and God’s calling to serve Him in ministry was so strong; that on June 19th, 2015, my wife Robin and I, heard God loud and clear as He said “the time is now, it’s time to go to the city!” So we were obedient and officially took the necessary steps to fulfill the Lords calling in our lives, and now we are planting the Lord's church called "Grace in the City Church," serving the nations of the inner city of Minneapolis.
Over the past 4 years, I have been actively ministering to the “city” through Fresh Start Recovery Ministry at Grace Church in Eden Prairie, and through my relationship with Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge, we are poised to bring that ministry home to the inner city of Minneapolis.
Today, our mission is to continue those relationships, while co creating a world of love, peace and truth, by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, across the street and around the world.
Folks, “Eternity is way too long to be wrong,” and “A life without Christ is never fixed,” so my question for you is simple, what do you worship? Who do you worship, and who do you believe in? My prayer for you is that you surrender, submit and desire a life with Christ, not worrying about what others will say, but simply trusting in the One who created you in the first place; our Great Creator, Jesus Christ God Almighty!
Grace in the City will provide the army of support you need, to enjoy a life of peace, hope, and love as you experience an authentic life giving personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
With God at the center of your heart you will be empowered to do miraculous things while serving Him.
Praise Jesus, and I look forward to serving you and your families for many years to come.
God Bless you,
